Information system

The Information Technology service provides a very classical service to all CERMAV staff as well as those within the Institute of Molecular Chemistry of Grenoble (ICMG). Some developments towards the community are already offered along with the implementation of good organizational practices within the research unit.

The activities devolved to the IT service concern both the CERMAV and the Institute of Molecular Chemistry of Grenoble (ICMG). The Service is also involved in the Center for Experimentation and Computation in Chemistry (CECIC), which is one node of the Chemistry Nanobio-ICMG and one of the six poles of CIMENT the mesocenter of the University Grenoble Alpes.
As a CNRS Research Unit located on the university campus of Grenoble University Alpes, the CERMAV provides an autonomous support to all network activities (DNS, messaging, Web ...) and security. Full WiFi coverage and access to eduroam service are also provided.

Management activities and service

The Service intervenes on organizational aspects of the Unit with the development of software tools (personnel management, scientific production of the laboratory, management of mass spectrometry and NMR analyzes ...) and the administration of websites. The Service is active in the establishment and maintenance of applications required for research activities (management of scientific equipment ...) as well as technical support for users (definition of hardware and software requirements, technical support).

Research activities

The Service develops software in the field of molecular modeling and in glyco-bioinformatics. Proper attention is devoted to databases with the double objective of sustain scientific information and disseminate to the scientific community at large.. These developments have led to various achievements such as Axonym (codification of heteroxylanes), databases of three-dimensional structures of molecules (portal of Glycosciences Glyco3D), NanoGoldMaker (construction of 3D structures of Nano gold particles) or the Amidothec ( database of microscopy images on starches).

Organization

Two permanent staff members manage the service. They relies for decision to the “Informatics Commission”Tand liaise with correspondents in each research team of the Unit who intervene in a first-level maintenance in users.
