Chromatography

The CERMAV Common Chromatography Service (SC3), consisting of a set of liquid chromatography and gas phase chromatography equipment.

The Service is located within the university area of ​​Grenoble-Saint Martin d'Hères. SC3). It is under the joint supervision of a scientific manager, Claire Boisset (IR2-CNRS) and a technical manager, Laurine Buon (AI-CNRS) assisted by a technician, Philippe Colin-Morel. All of them are specialists in the analysis of all types of monosaccharides, oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. They have expertise in gas chromatography as well as in high and low-pressure liquid chromatography. They work in harmony with the nearby ICMG nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometry (SM) platforms.

Determination of sugars, composition and quantification of monosaccharides, analysis of permethylated derivatives, determination of average molecular weights and polydispersity of oligosaccharides and polysaccharides, purification of oligosaccharides.

Missions

The missions of the service are the purification and analysis of oligosaccharides and polysaccharides in all their forms. This technical and methodological platform supports the research projects of the five thematic teams of CERMAV. Nevertheless, it can be requested for service delivery to external analyzes requested by either industrialists, by various public research laboratories (CNRS, Universities, INRA, INSERM ...) or other bodies such as hospitals, private laboratories,. The work may be performed under industrial contracts or in the context of scientific collaborations providing the publication of the results in scientific and technical journals. The service also provides a training on different analytical methods and techniques to students, doctoral collaboratorsPhD students) as well as to researchers.


 

Facilities

To carry out its analytical mission, the Service has a panel of essential equipment: high-pressure and low-pressure liquid chromatographs, chromatography, ion chromatography, gas chromatography coupled or not to a mass spectrometer. The Service also has a sample preparation laboratory in terms of ultrafiltration, preparation of derivatives (silylated methyl glycoside, alditol acetates, permethylated derivatives).

Treatment

Depending on the volume of analysis and the schedule of the service, the assumption of responsibility of the analyzes will be subjected to the appreciation of the person in charge. The time needed to perform the analyzes and the report writing will be specified on the quote and will come into effect from the receipt of the purchase order and samples.
After analysis and receipt of the analysis report by the applicant, the samples are kept for six months in the Chromatography Service, they can be returned to the applicant on request.
